  • Consulted on a variety of projects including video security systems,  web filtering for small office.
  • Piloted an effort to develop a mobile game for phones and handheld devices.
  • From 2014-2017, I also helped in mentoring a couple of High School Robotics teams, of which twice made it to the World Championship rounds of the yearly competition.


2013-2015   

Software Development Engineer Test (SDET), nFusion Solutions, Seattle, WA
Web and mobile application testing of cloud based market pricing system.   

  • Custom built NUnit/IEUnit test system, as well as testing the viability of cloud based test harness.


2010-2012   

Software Development Engineer Test (SDET), Pharmacy OneSource, Factoria, WA
A Lead QA developer for automation used for test, data injection, performance validation, security testing and team quality goals. Supporting automation web based applications and MS-SQL database backend. One of two testers on an eight person Agile development team. A key member in the Agile team with responsibilities such as estimation, planning, customer input focus, unit testing, release testing, bug validation and test, and root cause analysis.   

  • Created a custom test harness and XML scripted test platform using C# and Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. This test harness uses the NUnit test framework for run control and reporting and uses XML or natural language to form validation test.
  • Also created data injection methods and test simulate medical HL7 data feeds that are normally captured with medical equipment and laboratories services.  
  • Responsible for QA signoff on 5 major software releases and several Hotfix patches for Pharmacy OneSource’s flagship product, Sentri7.  
  • Started projects with Visual Studio 2008 and recently upgraded solutions to Visual Studio 2010.

Direct the operations of the museum, including oversight of technology, visitor services, retail store, maintenance and exhibits as well as off-site real-estate.

  • Worked with all departments in finding efficiencies in tasks and processes and introducing technology to help..
  • Transitioning computer systems from pre-web based ecosystem to a modern platform.
  • Highly involved in planning, cross department coordination and business wide decisions..  
  • Worked to bring the organization to leverage online services and Social Networking to deliver information more efficiently.

2008

LAB MANAGER (vendor), Microsoft Corporation, Redmond, WA
Managed lab of computers used by development and test teams for LIVE.COM.  Duties included keeping systems running, repaired, imaged and prepared for new installations of teams project. Although highly productive and successful, the entire USA based team was disbanded without notice on 12/2008, soon after the Stock Market crash. Microsoft decided to offshore the entire development platform to India.

  • Network configuration and operation with Cisco and Netgear equipment to run nearly 1,000 HP Prolient Servers and Virtual Machines.
  • Imaged systems using Windows PE, WIM’s and Windows Deployment Services (WDS).


2006-2008

SR. SOFTWARE TEST ENGINEER, DEVELOPER – Viack Corporation, Redmond, WA
Software Test Engineer responsible for website and Windows application testing, test plans, test cases, defect tracking, and test automation development.  Viack announced bankruptcy the week before I started work and has since closed its operations in Redmond.

  • Used C#, Ranorex, IEUnit, and JavaScript to test web interface, application and SQL backend.
  • Maintained IBM AppScan system to continuously test website security and used network simulators to test performance over different networks.  
  • Member of review teams, as well as interfaced and worked with business development and marketing.   


2004–2005

SYSTEM TEST ENGINEER – VistaCare, Inc., Scottsdale, AZ
Responsible for planning, development and integration of quality assurance for in-house designed software and systems.  Used both Windows and Linux based software to automatically perform tests on software and web page interfaces.

  • Performed database regression tests to find ways to optimize Oracle backend database to the comprehensive web based application.
  • Awarded the “Bug sharpshooter” award for successful testing of a complex billing system.


2003-2004

TEST ENGINEER (CONSULTANT) – Motorola Computer Group, Tempe, AZ
Develop test plans, scripts and code to test High Availability Computers (99.999% uptime requirement).  Test and code conversion of legacy systems to new unified Linux based system.  Also participated as a project coordinator and process improvement team lead.

Computer Consultant with specialty in data security, programming and web services. Offering Off-Site secure data backup service to help protect critical data for businesses in Arizona and New Mexico.

  • Developed several business websites with catalogs, ordering and corporate information.  
  • Maintained websites for good search engine optimization, typically in first page of Google or AltaVista searches.

INTEL ARCHITECTURE TEST MANAGER – Motorola Computer Group, Tempe, AZ
Managed both the Design Validation and Factory Test departments, including supervising 7 direct report employees. Participated in project management, planning, scheduling and presenting status to executive management. Was a member of the Motorola Technical Ladder as well as other internal committees and received six merit and two position promotions in under 4 years. Received many recognition rewards.

  • Created innovative and automated systems to allow small teams to be highly effective at testing products.
  • Tested $20MM in product per year with a high rate of success and very few customer problem reports.
  • Provided ideas and designs that revolutionized the test processes in the factory build environment.
  • Created and maintained most of the network, systems, and web infrastructure for the department.
  • Created and managed source code base and bug tracking system for software development teams.
  • Achieve SEI level 3 compliance for process and documentation management. Operated close to level 4 standards.

Developed software for bank account statement processing. Managed internal systems and Novel network as well as gateway for banking customers to send statement data for processing.

Started an ISP, offering a bank of dialup connections, website and email hosting through a dedicated DSL link.  Home-built servers were based on RedHat 3, multi-port serial cards and banks of modems.

SYSTEMS ANALYST/PROGRAMMER – Shea Homes, Inc., Phoenix, AZ
Responsible for development, integration and support of custom software packages deployed throughout the organization. Developed and deployed software, supported and trained users in both the Phoenix and San Diego markets. Worked with a wide variety of people and skills, from construction workers to interior designers to corporate executives.

  • Created programs to manage data between Access databases and AS/400 servers.
  • Developed remote sales office programs to handle sales contracts and mortgage loan estimates.
  • Data collected remotely every day from sales offices and processed on AS/400 to schedule subcontractors work.
  • Developed systems for subcontractors and field superintendents to track work in progress.

Provided programming, systems and network administration for one of the largest fastener companies that supplied nuts and bolts to customers like HomeBase and other Home Improvement stores.

Designed software to control testing hardware for companies like Intel. Was first to have a windows GUI control interface for embedded test control system.
